My name is Frankie Del Duca, and I am a bobsled driver for Team USA. I graduated from the University of Maine in 2014, with a bachelor’s of science in Kinesiology and Physical Education. While at Maine, I walked on to the Division I track and field team- working my way up to team captain and conference champion. I attended a bobsled combine in 2015, after a brief stint in AAA football. I became a tier 1 recruit based on my performance, and placed second at USA National Push Championships. I would go on to compete on the top USA sled with bobsled legend Steven Holcomb. Over the next few seasons, I competed in multiple World Championships, was a part of top 5 and top 3 start times on the World Cup, was on the first team to win all 4 USA team trials selection races, and competed through Olympic trials. After one “Olympic quad” as a push athlete, I switched to the driver’s seat. I placed second in my first international race as a pilot, and was named to the Emerging Elite Driver’s Program. Most recently, I won the USA Driver's push competition and have been named to the 2022 Winter Olympic Team.
Driving is directly connected to what makes me tick. I’ve been drawn to anything that goes fast, and that I can operate and/or work on to make it go faster. It is more than a desire, it is an innate connection I have felt since day one, and it has brought me to where I am today. Living this out as a part of the U.S. Bobsled team is a dream of mine, and representing the United States is an honor. The sport is exhilarating, with speeds reaching 90+ mph and 5+ G forces. I love the training, travel, competition, camaraderie, and adrenaline involved in bobsled!
